Not all cherries are alike.

The acerola cherry is the ultimate provider of vitamin C. Its purée contains about 10 000 ppm or 1% vitamin C.

The Vietnamese variety has a milder flavor than the rather sour cherry from Brazil, but the vitamin C content of the Brazilian cherry is higher.
