Yuzu
A collision between a mandarin orange and a lemon?
Although it may sound like it, yuzu is not a Japanese martial art but the most exclusive, most expensive citrus fruit on the planet. There’s a reason for this: It takes over 10 years until the first fruit can be harvested from a yuzu tree and it is then just a little bit bigger than a lemon.
When the peel of the yuzu is pierced, it releases a wonderful citrusy fragrance. Yuzu juice is packed with vitamin C and tastes like a combination of intense lime and traces of mandarin orange and pomelo. Its most prominent features are its sweetness and the lemony, slightly bitter note.
