Bergamot

The princess among citrus fruits
The rare and exclusive bergamot is grown almost exclusively in southern Italy. Its "little kingdom" covers just 70 kilometres of coastline in Calabria.
It is thought to be a cross between a bitter orange and a lime, a theory supported by its appearance: round like a bitter orange but bright green like a lime.
Its aromatic, slightly tart and sour flesh is highly prized in southern Italian cuisine. This exclusive fruit is often enjoyed as a refreshing sorbet or delicious jam.
Bergamot is also an excellent source of vitamin C!
