Persimmon
The greatest revolution since the kiwi?
At least that’s what the persimmon farmers in Valencia claim! Originally, however, the fruit of the gods (which is the translation of its genus "Diospyros") came from Asia, where it has been cultivated for over 2000 years. In addition to Asian countries, the persimmon tree is now also grown in Spain, Italy, Israel, and Brazil.
The soft, orange flesh is deliciously sweet and is a rich source of provitamin A and vitamin C. One to two persimmons already supply an adult’s daily requirement of vitamin A.
