Sesame
The nutty surprise. Not just for vegans!
The sesame plant is one of the most ancient, cultivated oil plants and is extremely popular in Asian cuisine in particular. Sesame is rich in unsaturated fatty acids, folate, zinc, calcium, magnesium, and iron. Besides oil, a slightly liquidy, nutty sesame paste is also derived from the sesame plant.
Sesame paste is commonly associated with hummus, but it’s also a genuine alternative to peanut butter. Overall, sesame is a wonderful flavoring for any dish or drink.
Our tip: How about sesame in a smoothie? That would be a tasty surprise!
