Tamarind

Ever hear of the “Indian date”?

We also know tamarind as the Indian date. We don't know whether elephants become wise from eating it or whether the Burmese rain god really lives in the crown of the tamarind tree.

But we do know that the hard shell of the tamarind hides a fibrous, brownish flesh that has a juicy, sour flavor. And we also know that the tamarind is ideal for use in multifruit drinks and smoothies. With its natural acidity, it livens up any drink and is serious competition for the classic lime or lemon.

But that's not all! Tamarind contains many important minerals as well as loads of iron, which makes it particularly interesting for vegans.
